Frequently Asked Questions
faq
Who are you?
We are a national network of students and young people (16-30) campaigning for drug policy reform.

What do you mean by drug policy reform?
We believe the current system of banning drugs and criminalising users has been a catastrophic failure and has caused far more harm than good. This system has brought about considerable harm to users, the wider community and countries involved in the production and transit of certain drugs. For us drug policy reform means political and social changes moving away from the system of prohibition, whether a student union promoting harm reduction and campaigning against the criminalisation of drug use or a country regulating the supply of a drug.

How do I make the case for reform?
The Transform Drug Policy Foundation has produced an excellent guide to making the case for drug regulation, Tools for the Debate is the first document we recommend all our activists read. There are many other publications, websites and documents well worth reading. These will be reviewed on the website as we build our content.

What are chapters?
Chapters are local groups based at universities, colleges or around a community that campaign and put on events promoting drug policy reform.

As an individual can I get involved?
You could either try set up a chapter or join the nearest chapter, in which case you should go to the Getting Involved tab and check if there is one near you, if not fill in the Start a Chapter application form. Or you could volunteer for the national organisation, we need people with a range of skills; whether writing, artistic, musical, the ability to raise money or to even just act as a local spokesperson for the organisation.
To find out more email the national coordinator at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Artistic and musical types should contact us through the Tune In project.

Why is your logo an elephant?
We wanted a logo that looked cool and would help people remember us and our message.
Drug policy reform is the 'Elephant in Room', it is an obvious problem that goes ignored or unaddressed. So whenever you see the elephant, think of us and think of drug policy reform!
